3 Questions You Should Ask Your Wedding Photographer

Finding the right wedding photographer can often feel as significant as finding the right person to marry. As with any big decision, you’ll want to take your time and ask the right questions before committing.

At Village Catering, we provide catering services for weddings and other special occasions. Our team understands that you want to hire the best photographer for your special day since you’ll be spending a lot of time with this person.

Village Catering wants you to have the best wedding ever, which is why we’ve come up with three questions that we recommend asking your potential photographer to ensure that he or she is the best fit.

1. What style of photography do you use?

Many photographers use a blend of styles when they shoot their images. It’s always a good idea to get a sense of what your photographer plans to shoot on your wedding day. For example, if portraits are important to you, then you’ll want to make sure that your photographer is comfortable with taking them.

It’s often best to go with the style that your photographer feels most comfortable with, as this will often result in the best pictures. Ask to see samples, of course. This will also help you determine if it’s a good fit.

2. What does the wedding package include?

Nobody wants to get involved with a wedding photographer only to find out that the package is too expensive. You’ll want to ask your wedding photographer whether proofs and albums are included in the package.

Find out if prints are covered, as well. Sometimes these cost extra. While you can always make your own album at home, it’s still a good idea to find out what the best value is. If your photographer is using film, it’s a good idea to find out if processing fees are included, as well.

3. How and when will I receive my proofs?

Waiting to see your wedding photographs is exciting. It becomes not so exciting when the wait is well-beyond your expected delivery date. Find out how long your photographer expects to have the images sent and then inquire about how you’ll receive the actual images.

Many photographers average a three to four-week turnaround time. It’s important to find out how you will receive the images, as well. For example, will your photographer use a CD, or will you view a gallery to make your selections?
