3 Five-Ingredient Recipes Perfect for Family Dinner
It’s happened to everyone at some point or another: you come home after a day of work when you realize that you forgot to get everything you need from the grocery store. While you can muster up the energy to head back to the store, know that there are also plenty of delicious dinners you can create with staples you likely already have in your kitchen. Here are a few of our favorite family dinners that only involve five ingredients.
- Macaroni and cheese. Think that macaroni and cheese from a box is your only option when you haven’t gone grocery shopping? Think again! Delicious skillet macaroni and cheese is a rich, comforting option that’s deceptively simple to whip up. All you need is a box or bag of your favorite pasta, two tablespoons each of butter and flour, 1.5 cups of heavy cream, and 3/4th of a pound of processed cheese. Cook the pasta, combine everything in a skillet over heat, combine, and serve!
- Pork chops. Like a great dish of macaroni and cheese, pork chops are delicious and easy to make. All you need is a few pork chops, one egg (lightly beaten), ½ of a cup of milk, 1.5 cups of crushed saltine crackers for the coating, and 1/4th of a cup of canola oil. Combine the egg and milk and put your crackers in a separate bowl. Dip each pork chop in the egg mixture, coat with saltine crumbles, then fry in the oil for about four minutes on each side. Serve after cooling — you can even pack away a few pork chops for tomorrow if you don’t want to order a lunch delivery in Philadelphia!
- Wraps. Wraps are versatile, easy to prepare, and healthy. You can combine nearly any type of meat, cheese, and vegetables in a wrap. No matter what you have in your kitchen, try combining a few flavor combinations in a tortilla or spinach wrap.
