How to Plan a Great Labor Day Party
Once August 1st arrives, not only does it mean that summer is almost over and that the new school year is on the horizon, it also means that it’s time to start planning your Labor Day party! Labor Day weekend is the final big holiday of the summer season and is no doubt a popular time for pool parties, final weekend getaways, and, of course, cookouts!
If you’re looking to have a big and great final summer bash this Labor Day, here are some things you can do to ensure that happens:
Soon after August 1st hits, send the “Save the Dates.”
Labor Day weekend is often a busy one for many people—even those who don’t have plans. To guarantee that you get the number of RSVPs you hope, we highly suggest that you let everyone know that you plan on having a party, and would like to know soon whether or not they will attend. After all, you need a headcount to determine how much food you will need.
Pick a theme, or start planning on which decorations and other things you will need to purchase.
You don’t have to go crazy with a theme, but having one will definitely be more fun. Two themes you could choose are a “Whiteout” theme, or a “Red, White, and Blue” theme—both of which are perfect for this holiday. If you’re just looking to buy some decorations, make sure to grab some mini flags and/or red/blue/white streamers.
Narrow down what will be on the menu a couple of weeks before the party.
The highlight of any Labor Day party will always be what is on the menu. However, you should make sure to start making a list of everything you will be serving (and start gathering ingredients) a couple of weeks before the party. After all, you won’t be the only one having a party!
Here are some great items to include on your menu:
- Grilled vegetable/chicken/steak kabobs
- Cheeseburgers and/or hamburgers or both
- Mozzarella, tomato and basil skewers
- Fresh fruit pies
- Coleslaw
In the end, preparation is key to having a successful Labor Day party!
But, if you need help with the food, we here at Village Catering can definitely help!
